Programme Overview

The ICPC XXI 2025 congress programme will feature more than 22 technical sessions, presented by industry experts. Attendees will take away informative, engaging and practical information covering the most important and timely issues relevant coal preparation and processing.

The ICPC XXI 2025 will bring together global experts, researchers, and industry professionals to share insights and discuss the latest advancements in coal preparation. Our goal is to promote sustainable methods that enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact, ensuring a cleaner future for the coal industry.

The programme will be presented in English. Delegates expected to attend include countries from Asia, Australia, Europe, UK, USA, Canada as well as South Africa.

Alan Waller

CEO, Richards Bay Coal Terminal

Alan Waller completed his articles with Deloitte and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He held various financial positions within Mondi Craft and moved to Richards Bay Coal Terminal (Pty) Ltd (“RBCT”) in 2005 where he held the position of General Manager Finance until 2016, when he was appointed to his current position of Chief Executive Officer.

Paul Baruya

Director of Strategy and Sustainability at FutureCoal

Paul joined FutureCoal in 2022, where he supports advocacy for advanced coal technologies in a carbon neutral future and the strategic role of coal in developing economies.He comes with a background in environmental consultancy at AEA Technology (now Ricardo), where he devised the New Entrant Reserve CO2 allocation for new power plants and industrial facilities and was involved in numerous projects involving end-user energy efficiency and CO2 reduction campaigns.

He also has experience in long-term forecasting and modelling of global coal and gas markets at IHS Global Insight (now IHS Markit), and energy use and emissions from power generation, steel, cement, and transport sectors.

Previous to FutureCoal, Paul was a senior analyst at the International Centre for Sustainable Carbon, a Technology Collaboration Programme of the IEA, studying the cost structures of mining, coal and gas competition in Asia, energy in Africa, and global biomass resources.

Vuslat Bayoglu

Managing Director, Menar

Vuslat Bayoglu is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Menar, a South African mining company with an actively managed and growing portfolio of diversified minerals, which has controlling stakes in Canyon Coal, Zululand Anthracite Colliery, Kangra and East Manganese. He holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and has over 20 years of experience in the mining industry. During that period, he led the group’s subsidiaries from junior to mid-tier status through organic growth and acquisitions.
Bayoglu is a hands-on investor with a keen interest in bettering the South African economy. He is actively involved in seeking solutions to key issues faced by South Africa. Bayoglu also serves on the board of the Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) and recently became a director sitting on the board of FutureCoal.
